History

A very military species strongly governed by religion, several hundred years ago the Averaptors divided into tribes, each with a religiously significant attribution. Each tribe represents an animal of worship, and together, the entirety of the Averaptor society represents their life-giving homeworld. Since this political establishment, the Averaptors have grown and flourished both technologically and economically. A decade ago, when the Marenox challenged the Averaptor people to war, they were more than adequately prepared. An aggressive but passionate species, Averaptor history is rife with minor conflicts settled peacefully by neutral tribes.

Biology

Averaptors are strong bipeds, covered in feathers and moving with a hawk-like gait. Unlike other feathered animals on Thykri, their coloration isn’t overly exotic; the common color is grayish brown. They have hooked, fanged beaks and small black eyes that give them the unusual appearance of an anthropomorphic bird of prey. They retain their feathers for their extraordinary insulating properties, useful for warding off the night chill; otherwise, their feathers serve little purpose, although they are lighter than the more common furred coat. Averaptors are asexual, reproducing by means of a large egg that incubates inside all members of the species until adulthood. Once an Averaptor finishes puberty, the egg can be hatched at any time. However, most Averaptors choose to wait for a large number of years, since the incubating embryo retains the memories, experiences and strength of its parent. In order to ensure the child’s survival, Averaptors avoid making the same mistakes that a parent might have made, a reproduction trait that was particularly useful in the evolution of a respectable intellect. Because of the mysterious and biologically unique traits of the Averaptor reproduction system, a successful line of Averaptors is virtually immortal. A traditional Averaptor egg contains three embryos.
