Algernon here

I’ll be in charge of this week’s blog again, since Arriathan is busy with life, the universe, and everything. She’s a busy girl.

This week was relatively slow- although the first demo is coming together nicely, the staff has been largely busy with school. AdioBam, Th3w, PowersWithin, and other key artists haven’t had time to work on anything.

That’s the bad news. The good news is, we’ve got just about every sound and graphic we’ll need for the first half of the demo, and all we’ve go to do now is iron out a few technicalities and program like there’s no tomorrow. Things like enemy sprites and spaceship sprites are all finished, and most of the workload stems from the programming department. Poor Leppy is gonna have his hands full.

I’ll be honest- one of the reasons why you’ve seen so few in-game screens of Schism is because we’ve had so little to take a screenshot of. Most of the work we’ve been doing are character portraits and designs, sprite work, and programming tricks. For example, Th3w programmed an in-game 30/60FPS switch. Great idea, but little small details like that have been the primary focus, rather than the actual game. It’ll be worth the wait, though.

On a more proactive note, the game’s soundtrack is completely done. PowersWithin is one dedicated girl. She’s responsible for RS0’s soundtrack, and while it was certainly an attractive sound design, it won’t compare with the work she’s done for Schism. I’m particularly excited about the game’s music.

Sorry there aren’t more subjects to cover this week- hopefully Arriathan will have more time next Friday. Keep in touch!
